Two productions to tell the Tale.
Enter the richly imagined universe of internationally celebrated author Isabel Allende through two connected theatrical works.
In November 2026, Echo Theatre and Teatro Dallas join forces to present the regional premiere of Eva Luna. Inspired by Isabel Allende's award-winning novel and reimagined by playwright, Caridad Svich, this adaptation tells the story of a young woman who refuses to disappear.
Born into poverty and loss, Eva Luna survives through the force of her imagination, transforming hardship into story and invisibility into voice. As she moves from servitude into the margins of a politically volatile city, she encounters revolutionaries, sex workers, artists, and exiles, all navigating a world shaped by repression and desire. In a landscape where women’s bodies are controlled and dissent is punished, Eva discovers that storytelling itself is power.
This production blends magical realism, live music, and ensemble-driven performance to illuminate themes of gender justice, migration, censorship, and resilience. At its core, Eva Luna is a celebration of the artist as a truth-teller and of community as a force for survival and change.

whose larger space accommodates the scale of the co-production.

Workshop Full Production
Echo Theatre will present Stephanie Oustalet’s new adaptation of Allende’s haunting follow-up, The Stories of Eva Luna. A two-person play with live music, Eva Luna spins stories intended only for her lover, Rolf Carle.
Together, the productions reveal storytelling as an act of survival and transformation—a way to preserve identity, reclaim agency, and imagine a life beyond the limits others impose.
Lectures, panels, and special events throughout the season will invite audiences deeper into Allende’s writing and the cultural, historical, and political worlds that shape it.
